The dark thoughts that often accompany becoming a mother are often kept private and not discussed. Many prefer to put on a brave face and find it challenging, openly discussing dark or negative thoughts or seeking help.
In this episode I speak with Kaila Maguire who talks about her journey as a first time time mum and the challenges she faced with postpartum anxiety and depression.

About Kaila Maguire
Kaila Maguire is a teacher turned stay-at-home parent who currently lives on the shores of North Carolina in the United States with her husband and son.
After going through pregnancy and the fourth trimester Kaila started Parent Tell, a podcast dedicated to sharing all types of pregnancy and parenting experiences, but particularly those that are not yet discussed enough in the mainstream.
Through her podcast Kaila provides a safe and inclusive space to parent and tell about it. It is Kaila’s hope that candid conversations about birth, postpartum mental health, and the like will help to normalize the often hard to discuss realities of raising a child, resulting in more support, grace, and acknowledgement for parents.
In her spare time Kaila enjoys supporting new parents with a listening and empathetic ear, dancing in the kitchen with her family, and smashing the patriarchy any chance she can get.
